GRANGE AND COMMUNITY

Entries must be received by August 23, 2024; no late entries will be accepted.

The building will be open for set up on Tuesday, August 27th from 9:00AM – noon and 5:00PM to 7:00PM. And on Wednesday, August 28th  from 3:00PM – 5:00PM. All exhibits must be in place by 5:00PM, Wednesday. Exhibits must remain in place until Monday, September 2, 2024.

Please contact the Superintendent for breakdown time on Monday.  Danish System will be used in grading.

GRANGE & COMMUNITY EXHIBIT

  1. About 6 to 8 feet of space will be allowed for each exhibit. Plan for 8 feet but allow for adjustment should only 6 feet be available.
  2. Exhibits entered in this department are not eligible to compete as a part or whole in other departments.
  3. The Hopkinton State Fair is not responsible for any loss or damage to any articles on display.

RULES EXHIBIT WITH THEME

  1. Name of organization and town location necessary on background about eye level and in center.
  2. Theme should be clearly stated on background. Explain enough so public will understand your theme.
  3. Whole exhibit should be around theme.
  4. Originality, color, and arrangement should carry out the thought behind the theme, along with a little imagination.
  5. A reasonable variety should be used. (Do not crowd.)
  6. All items should be in excellent condition, neat, clean, fresh, etc.

EXHIBIT WITH NO THEME

  1. Name of organization and town location necessary on background about eye level and in center.
  2. Display should have originality, color, and well-balanced arrangement.
  3. Requirements are:
    1. 3 kinds of cooked food. (Only 3)
    2. A total of 10 small vegetables and/or fruit. (Each on a plate with 5 articles of each type – except beans, which must have 10 pods on the plate.)
    3. 1 each of 3 large type of vegetables, such as pumpkin, squash, watermelon, cabbage, cauliflower, etc. (Only 3)
    4. 4 jars of canned goods. (Only 4) must be labeled
    5. 1 type of grain.
    6. 12 articles of handiwork, using 6 types (knitting, crocheting, sewing, braiding, painting, stenciling, woodcarving, hobbies, etc.) (Only 12 items)
    7. 2 different kinds of plants and/or flowers.
  4. All items should be in excellent condition, neat, clean, fresh, uniform in size.
  5. Articles used should be raised, grown, or made by members.
